Car Amps: Not Just About The Volume

Interested in car audio or just interested in music? Getting a car amplifier is something you should look into. You might have heard of car amps before, but disregarded them as too complicated or only for people who want their music loud. While it is definitely true to say that an amplifier can give your car audio system extra volume, that is not the only reason you might want to look into getting an amp for your car.

Sound Quality for example, can be vastly improved by installing an amplifier into your car stereo system. Factory issue amps are limited to what the designers could fit and, let's face it, they are experts at cars, not audio systems. A new amp, correctly installed, will not strain easily giving you high quality sound on every note.

Subwoofers, another part of car audio that is associated with volume. As you will know, improving your speakers can really improve the quality of sound and installing an amp can give you enough power to work a sub easily. Subs especially, powered by the right amplifier, mean that the lower notes - so often blurred or indistinct through normal speakers - can be as high quality as the higher tones, giving you a more complete musical experience. A car amp is the best way to power one. This improvement is carried over to other speakers as well: if you have updated your speakers then you'll need a decent amp to keep up with them.

Although there is work involved in installation, a good car audio store will give you all the help you need and be willing to answer your questions. Amp wiring kits and accessories are readily available as well, giving you everything you need to get the best quality sound system in your car.

Can I get some help with basic car audio information?
Alright, if there was any one person that was completely stupid when it came to car audio systems it would have to be me. I've installed a couple head units and speakers but really I'm still lost when it comes to this stuff so... here are some questions... I heard you need just the right set up so you don't under power your amp and fry it or overpower your sub and blow it right? And a 4 channel amp will power four speakers but not a sub while a 1 channel amp only powers a sub but a two channel amp powers two subs? or does a two channel amp power just two speakers? Whats the difference between Kicker Comp and Kicker CVR? What about this dual ohms coil something or other stuff? RMS? 1 way something or other? Should a subwoofer box be air tight or have a vent hole? What happens if I don't break in a sub? Should I get a capacitor? Do I need a better battery and Alternator? Can a 300 watt sub beat 1000 watt sub? What if a 6x9 speaker only works part of the time and you are pretty sure it's not the connection? Is brand name really that important? X-Plod good or bad? MTX? Is wiring really that important? Does the head unit matter that much with a sub? Does it make a big difference to hook up an amp to your speakers? What's the difference between having a sub turned upside down and right side up? I'm sure I have some more questions surprisingly but I can't think of them. Even if you just answer one question that would help me out greatly. Thanks!

I need help with car audio information: subwoofer and amplifier wattage. Please help!?
I am looking to buy two subwoofers and an amplifier for my truck. I have no idea what watts even are so this is my problem; I have found a really good deal on two 12" Kenwood subs, they both peak out at 1200 Watts a piece, that would equal about 2400 Watts peak power. Does anyone know how many watts the amp im getting should be capable of pushing? If you could even just lay down the basics to the whole watts generalization it would be greatly appreciated. They're also 4 ohms if that helps your answer. Thanks.

What is a well known and well acclaimed car audio information shop?
What is a well known car audio shop? In other words what is a nation wide car audio installer, who can also give me information on what type of amp I should get with the subs I want, also how to wire and do all of that other complicated stuff. I live in the Dallas - Fort Worth area in Texas if that helps also.
